How to play Ancient Temple
Ancient Temple is a descent through ten sealed chambers. Each door has a row of pressure plates in front of it and a tray of stone weights beside it, and the wall carries a handful of inscriptions: which plate bears more than another, what two plates weigh together, which stone stays in the tray. Only one arrangement of stones fits every inscription, and pulling the lever tests the one you have laid out.
The temple punishes guessing. A wrong arrangement springs a trap and puts out one of your three torches, and losing the last one ends the descent. Open a door on the first pull and a torch rekindles.
The chambers grow from three plates to five, decoy stones that belong on no plate appear from the fifth chamber, and later inscriptions are subtler — differences, exclusions, totals and neighbours rather than simply naming where the heaviest stone sits. Every chamber is generated with exactly one solution and no inscription you can ignore. Faster chambers score more.
