How to play Word Guess
Word Guess gives you six tries at a hidden five-letter word. After each guess every tile turns green if its letter is in the right place, amber if the letter is somewhere else in the word, or grey if it is not in the word at all — and a letter you typed twice is only marked as often as it really appears, so the colours are exact information rather than hints.
Guesses have to be real words from the game's list of more than nine hundred, which turns every try into a deduction instead of a probe. The on-screen keyboard keeps track of what you have learned about every letter.
A run is eight words. The first four are everyday words; the last four lean on rarer letters and doubled ones. A word you cannot find in six tries costs one of three lives, and finding a word in fewer guesses scores more.
