How to play Solitaire
Solitaire is Klondike: seven tableau columns built down in alternating colours, four foundations built up by suit from the ace, and a stock you turn over for more cards. Kings open empty columns, and a face-down card turns over the moment it is uncovered.
Before the deal you choose draw one, where every card of the stock is in play, or draw three, where only every third card can be reached and the order of the stock matters. Every move can be undone, all the way back to the deal, for a small cost to the score — so trying a line and taking it back is part of the game rather than a cheat.
When nothing useful can move anywhere, even after a full pass of the stock, the deal is over. Once every card is face up and the stock is spent, the rest plays itself out onto the foundations. Draw three is worth double at the end.
