How to play Ocean Survival
Ocean Survival sets you adrift on a small raft with twelve days to go before the currents carry you into the shipping lanes. The sun dries you out, hunger never stops, and the raft itself slowly comes apart in rough water.
Fish keep you fed: cast the line, wait for the float to dip, and strike straight away — too early and the fish is gone, too late and it slips the hook. Rain keeps you alive: put the tarp up whenever it rains and the barrel fills, then drink from the barrel when you need to. Wreckage drifts past now and then, and a plank hooked from it is what patches the raft.
Storms are the real danger, and the sky always warns you. Thin high streaks come first, then a ring round the sun, then dark towers on the horizon. Patch the raft and lash everything down before the storm hits: a lashed raft takes half the pounding, and every wave that breaks over a loose one spills the barrel and carries off planks. Lashed supplies cannot be used until you untie them, and a raft that breaks apart mid-storm costs you health fast. A storm is also the most rain you will ever see, but a tarp left up catches the wind as well. A day that ends with water and food in you mends a little health. As the days go by storms come more often and hit harder, fish grow fewer, less wreckage drifts past and the sun gets hotter.
