How to play Pixel Fighter

Pixel Fighter is a one-on-one fighter against a ladder of five computer opponents, each a best-of-three match with 99-second rounds. Everything runs on fixed 60 Hz frames, and every move has startup, active and recovery frames. A frame bar under each fighter fills in as a move plays out (green startup, red active, blue recovery, yellow stun), and the move list gives each move's numbers and its advantage on block and on hit. After every hit, block or throw, the measured advantage appears over the attacker's head.

Light punch starts on frame 5, is -1 on block and +8 on hit, so it links into a second punch or a low sweep. Heavy kick knocks down but is -12 on block. The sweep must be blocked crouching and the 22-frame overhead must be blocked standing. A short-range throw beats a block but loses to an attack that is already out. Hold back to block high and mid, down-back to block low and mid. A move that is -5 or worse on block can be punished by a light punch when you are close enough, and combos end at two hits.

Opponents see your moves only after their reaction time and misread some of what they see, but they notice a move you keep repeating and start to beat it. Grit swings unsafe heavy kicks, Pip rushes in with jabs and throws, Rook blocks low and throws, Vex mixes sweeps with overheads, and Echo does all of it with a 13-frame reaction. A round that runs out of time goes to whoever has more health, and a tie goes to the opponent. Losing a match ends the run.
