How to play Pixel Farm
Pixel Farm is classic grid farming built around one question: how many actions does a crop really cost you? Every crop runs the same little loop — till the soil, plant a seed, water it every day until it ripens, and harvest it — and every step of that loop is an action. You have twenty actions of energy a day. Walking around the field is free.
Harvests go in the shipping bin and are paid for overnight. Turnips are quick and cheap, potatoes and tomatoes take longer, and corn takes eleven days and pays best. Seeds cost gold, so early on the question is money; once the gold is flowing, the question becomes energy.
That is where the shop comes in. Each of its five tools takes one step out of the loop. The seed hoe plants as it tills. Compost keeps harvested soil tilled. The basket replants the crop it picks. The big can waters three tiles in a row with one pour. And each sprinkler waters the eight tiles around it every morning without costing you anything at all. Tools are expensive, so which you buy, and when, decides whether you ship 4,000 gold in twenty-eight days. Rain waters the whole field now and then, and tomorrow's rain is always forecast.
